"I am in complete agreement about carbohydrates in the presence of fat being the problem. What I can’t understand is why those in authority refuse to accept this. After all they only have to look at what the low fat high carb. doctrine has produced. Could it be that they are afraid that if they admit there disastrous error they will be inundated by people bringing law suits?"

Yes but more than this Carol, it is the level of brainwashing that the low fat/no fat propaganda has caused.

Hello Fred,

I saw you on Nightline when you stood up to make a comment about what really causes obesity. Jimmy Moore talks about you a lot. I think the lady Marianne Kirby is eating too many carbs and that is why her weight will not come down.

I have been overweight all of my life, struggled so badly. People just thought I ate too much. I worked out like crazy at the gym. Lost some weight, but still stayed heavy.Until I read the book Good Calories, Bad Calories, I figured out it was all of the refine carbs that I was eating that was keeping me fat. I dropped 60 pounds after reading the book. I just stopped eating so many carbs. My weight stays off and I have not gain any weight back.

As far as Michelle Obama goes, you are absolutely right. Kids moving more is not the problem. I live in North Carolina and it is state law that kids have 30 minutes of recess everyday and one day of physical education each week grades k-8. Yet kids are still overweight. I see people at the gym work out like crazy and are still obese. It does not make sense. So it can't be the exercise.

Thanks for all the great information. I will continue to read your blog.

Hi Jeff -

Nothing was taken verbatim from his book. The concepts have been available before his book ever came out. And Gary happens to be a personal friend of mine.

I liked this content the first time I read it when Gary Taubes wrote it in Good Calories Bad Calories. I'm surprised he wasn't quoted as a source or something, as some of the statements sound like they were taken verbatim from his book.

Thank you Lucy and you're welcome.

If your doctor thinks you are healthy enough to exercise, just do the exercises as I have them laid out omitting the ab crunches. Remeber to breathe freely at all times and keep cool - use a fan. Try to avoid extreme ranges of motion.

Feel free to ask more questions if they arise.

I liked this post a lot too. You didn't mention though, the long hours kids sit idle and still in the classroom every day! And of course, the President himself just recently called for INCREASING the length of the school day. Increasing it to add on extra recess time for high schoolers? I think not.

Good work. I am really glad you put the truth out there about kids diet. So many people promote low carb, and paleo, but won't touch childhood eating. Thank you.

On a side note, do you have any special recommendations for doing slow-burn during pregnancy?
