Fat

by Fred Hahn on April 15, 2010

“Eating fat doesn’t make you fat. Storing fat makes you fat. Carbohydrates play a major role in storing fat. So the level of dietary carbohydrate is really the most important factor to control because it dictates what happens to fat. Carbohydrates are dominant and fat is passive. When carbohydrates are low, fat tends to be burned, and when carbohydrates are high dietary fat tends to be stored.”

Wise words form Dr. Jeff Volek.

Let them ruminate in your mind. (And by the way, only ruminants need to eat carbohydrate.)

I've been involved in exercise ever since I became a member of The Charles Atlas Club when I was 10 years old. In 1998, I founded and established Serious Strength on the Upper West Side of NYC. My clients include kids, seniors (and everyone in between), top CEOs, celebrities, bestselling authors, journalists and TV personalities.

That quote is great, most people do not think of it that way. A relative (who is overweight & unhealthy) was talking to me about bacon tonight and we were discussing how the type of bacon I bought recently is more expensive but tastes wonderful. She responded by saying “well that’s good then because you won’t eat much”. She wasn’t talking about the cost, she was eluding to the fact that bacon is “bad” for me.
I will give her the score on sodium, and maybe nitrates, but fat and protein with wonderful taste is certainly going to keep it on my plate!

Thanks Karl. People are so brain washed RE fat and protein that it is truly tragic. Until this ideology dies out, i’m afraid we are going to see ever more diabetes, obesity, CVD, etc.
